Episode 46 – Take a selfish.

“It’s my turn to take a selfish”

David Rose

This episode we talk about one of our favorite forms of self care, SPAS!

The origins of the spa- ‘Spa‘ is an acronym of the Latin phrase ‘Salus per Aquam’, meaning ‘health from water’. – ‘Spa‘ is named after the Belgian village, Spa, where hot mineral springs were used by Roman soldiers to treat aching muscles and wounds from a battle.

Anne’s Korean Day Spa Experience

I love a good treat your self moment so I checked in to a Korean Day Spa for 7 hours. The Olympus Day Spa aka The Naked Lady Spa is located in Lynnwood WA- they also have a Tacoma location.

I luxuriated my day away with head to toe body scrub, massage and moisturizing treatment. In between services, I lounged about in steam and dry saunas, read a book, took a nap and had a great lunch (Korean bbq)  in their cafe. The best part, no phones or distractions just zen the fuck out!

Total Cost with gratuity and lunch $340

I am ballin’ on a budget

Kat St. John

The St. John Spa Experience

The ugly side of beauty. The Carbonated Charcoal Face Mask!

Well, hello and welcome to the St. John Spa! AKA my house.
Here are my tips on how to achieve a relaxing spa day at home and on a budget.

First things first, run a Bath and plop in a bath bomb & some Dr. Teal’s Epsom salts while you apply your mask.
For my first mask, I used a Charcoal bubble mask instead of a mud mask so that I didn’t have to wait for it to dry.

After you’re done soaking, drain the tub, run a hot shower and cleanse your face.
Apply any kind of scrub you would like to use, for this I used the Body Shop Mango Sugar Body Scrub.
Shave for extra exfoliation & then apply a lotion/ oil.
For the last step I utilized the Philosophy Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil we talked about last episode!
Pat dry, apply 2nd mask to face. (Since I have big pores and took a hot shower, I used a Meshpeel pore extracting mask, similar to a biore’ strip but for your whole face.)
Remove 2nd Mask, use a Glycolic Peel & then apply your 3rd mask. Mine was the Soothing Hydra Solution mask by Dr. Jart+!
Finish with a couple of our favorite eye patches by Pathology and green tea spray by Herbivore.

Total cost of at – home spa day $125.00

This may sound like a lot of money to invest, but most of these items I purchased can be used again in the future anytime, which is a hell of a deal. If you REALLY want the finite breakdown, look at the amount of uses you can get out of each product and do the math!

SHIT WE BOUGHT!

We are all about multi use products, particularly Kat. The Olio E Osso – Natural Lip and Cheek Balm No. 10 (Tea rose), great for a blush and for a light wash of color on the lips!

We are always on the look out for new releases and Anne took a dive into the new Fenty Palettes! One cool thing about this product is the ability to stack and click them together! Who doesn’t love compact items you can easily travel with?
